Mexico trying to clean sewage from Acapulco bay
Made Popular May 23 2008
Federal officials say they plan to clean up Acapulco’s popular bay, where an estimated 400 gallons (1,700 liters) of sewage spews into the Pacific ocean every second.
President Felipe Calderon says his government will invest US$70 million (euro44 million) to clean up the waters of the Mexican resort.
Calderon says plans include rehabilitating 14 water treatment plants, including the main plant that handles up to 80 percent of the city’s sewage.
