Mexican drug war crossfire kills baby
An eight-month-old infant was fatally wounded after being caught in the crossfire during a gun battle between police and drug traffickers.

The baby was shot during a gunfight late Wednesday in the town of Apatzingan in the western Mexican state of Michoacan.
Officials said the child, who was traveling with her mother inside a taxi cab, was struck by a random bullet as police traded gunfire with presumed traffickers.
The battle involved about 100 police officers, several of whom were wounded in the confrontation, local media reported.
Michoacan is considered the unofficial headquarters for the notorious La Familia drug cartel, one of Mexico's most brutal drug trafficking networks.
Further north, gunmen fatally shot six men in the town of Cuauhtemoc, in Mexico's Chihuahua state near the US border.
Officials said the victims were mowed down on a city street Thursday in a hail of automatic gunfire, and blamed the killing on an organized crime ring with ties to the drug trade.
More than 28,000 people have died across the country since 2006, since the government launched a massive military operation to root out drug traffickers and organized crime.
