Yes, men are different, they occupy a level higher than the women at this is what is happening in India especially in sports, specifically in Hockey at least nowadays. The hockey players men team revolted for their justified payment and got it, Rs one crore, varying individual payments to 22 players and support staff which was by the way distributed by IOA President Suresh Kalamadi with media present and he merrily gave individual cheques as if the payment was from his own personal account and taking all credit for it. Also the players are assured at least for now by Hockey India that from now onwards there will be no finanacial constraints. All is well that ends well. By the way India won the bronze medal in the Champions Challenge in tournament, held in Salta, Argentina last month.
When female Indian Hockey team wanted its due they were curtly told that there was no money left to pay them, the female team knowing very well that they would not find many supporters if they refused to attend training camp decided to play but they all wore black arm bands.
“Even during the men’s strike, we supported them but did not join them. Hockey India had promised us that both teams will be considered at par and there will be no discrimination in terms of rewards, but that has not happened. Now we are being told that there is no money for the women’s team,” senior striker Mamta Kharab said.
"We are tired of begging to Hockey India for help which is why we are appealing to the people of India. Men's and women's hockey is the same, they should be treated the same. Women's team should not be treated like a step-child," Kharab said.
Despite facing several hurdles, like visa hassles, the women's team had quite an eventful year 2009. The team won the Champions Challenge II and also qualified for World Cup. Reacting quickly to the revolt launched by the national women's team, HI decided to give an amount of Rs 50,000 to each member of the team on Thursday, Jan 21.
Besides this, the sports' governing body has promised to later release an additional amount of Rs 50,000 to each player.But as per latest buzz HI has agreed to pay Rs one crore to female Hockey Team also.
Why did Hockey India tried to fob off the female team by first offering 50,000/- than another 50,000/- after CWG now it has agreed to release one crore.
Obviously Men are from mars so are exotic and females ,well they are from our own earth so do not carry the same value as men.
