Media's Effect on Teens
When it comes to the business of making money all of us are exploited by all of the companies that are in business to make a profit. Teenagers are targeted by companies that are in the business of selling goods and services that we all know most teenagers want and think that they need and cannot live without. These same businesses target us old geezers too because we too want and think that we need and cannot live without certain goods and services.

Of course, they know that teenagers want pretty clothes, and pretty jewelry, and that they like to play video games, like to go to theme parks, and like to have fun, and they also know that most teenagers are easily influenced by glitz and bang and by bells and whistles. We on the other hand are bombarded by pharmaceutical, insurance, and hospitalization companies. Wellness, better skin care, face and body do-over and over again advertisements and the like inundate us from morning until the following morning. Yes, A&F is going to exploit the teenager and the oldster for as long as they can make money off of us because it's the business that they are in, selling.
It’s called doing business and the world thrives on it. Do these businesses need to reign back some in their commercial push to convince teenagers that they need to buy their products and use their services, perhaps, but you know what at the end of the day you as a consumer are always responsible for your own spending. Likewise, it is unfair and a mistake to blame others for one’s own short comings; that is if one becomes pregnant one does not need to look further than the nearest mirror to see who is to blame for that unfortunate event.

You as a teenager will notice as you go on with your life that you will always be exploited in some way by someone most all of the time. You will learn to be more selective and more discerning. You will earn more of your own monies by the sweat and tears of your own efforts and you will become a better shopper and a better investor for yourself and for your family because of your own hard work. You will learn to say "no" or "not interested" more often and you will learn not to be impressed by the super duper hype or the newest fad that is going around. You will learn not to be intimidated by every salesperson coming down the pike, too. You will learn you don’t have to have every new device or new gadget to show people how cool you are. You will become old and though you will be exploited you will make everyone around you work much harder to drag that dollar bill out of your hermetically sealed purse
