Mayawati and Tax Payer's Money
MAYAJAAL
On completion of 25 years of Bahujan Samaj Party, the BSP Supremo Sushree Mayawati was felicitated by her supporters with a currency garland worth Rupees 5 corer. This could be the most expensive political felicitation in a land of the poor. This is not the first occasion when Behanji has accepted expensive gifts from the public; in the past also she has been openly demanding generous contributions for her ‘Party’ on her Birthday bashes.

The messiah of dalits is fond of flashing her diamonds besides spending crores of public money in enhancing her image as the true representative of dalits masses. She is a big money collector and a big spender. Perhaps nowhere in the world a political leader has his idol made in his life time to gain immortality in the book of history. It is another matter that her Bête noires, the Smajwadi Party leaders have vowed to demolish all her idols along with army of elephants elegantly carved in Lucknow’s Ambedkar Park on assuming power in the state of Utter Pradesh.
How are the poor dalits benefited from such vulgar and extravagant display of lavishness in Maharallies? It is Behanji’s gimmick to show strength of her vote bank to her opponents. Crores of taxpayers’ money is spent in organizing such events besides inconvenience to the general public. Where are the politicians of yesteryears-likes of Lal Bahadur Shastri and Guljari lal Nanda?
To keep a class of dalits alive is in the interest of the politicians. Perhaps their political future will end if dalits merge in the country’s mainstream of population.
