Boston Red Sox left fielder Manny Ramirez was ejected following his first at-bat Sunday against Texas for arguing a called third strike by plate umpire Paul Emmel.
Ramirez, who hit the 496th homer of his career to break a 3-3 tie in Boston’s win Saturday night, was called out on a pitch that appeared to be over the plate and at the knees, according to TV replays.
Ramirez turned and said something to Emmel as he started to walk away. Emmel took off his mask and responded to Ramirez, who said something else before his ejection. It was the fourth time he’s been tossed in his career, the first time since last August.
