Mandatory Prescription For Weight Loss Pills
The Federal Commission for Protection Against Health Risks (known as Cofepris in Spanish) ruled in favor to reclassify medicine containing "sibutramine" a substance used for weight loss, after studies and surveys detected 157 adverse cardiovascular related reports.

The Commission ordered the pharmaceutical industry to no longer allow the following medications to be sold as over the counter drugs without prescription:"Adec", "Adelseril", "Adelvag", "Affilare", "Amuprux ASF", "Basistram", "Ectiva", "Gea" "Ifa-certez"," Imcal "," Kifenip "," Obectiv "," Raductil "," Randism "," Segusiv "," Serotramin "," Siruton "," Tramentel "," Tramicell "," Yeduc " "Badefem", "Certainty IFA Duo", "Slimtral M and Redumed."
The drug manufacturers where given 15 days to apply for the corresponding modifications of their records.
For now, the "Cofepris" issued a health alert for patients who have a history of cardiovascular disease such as cardiac arrhythmia, transient ischemic attacks, coronary artery disease, congestive heart failure, uncontrolled hypertension and peripheral artery disease.
