Police say a father in suburban Chicago has admitted to locking his two young daughters in a cage in his pickup truck.
Ricardo Gonzalez was arrested after officials say a woman spotted him pushing a child’s hands back into a cage Monday at a gas station. Police say the woman also heard a child crying.
Police say the 35-year-old Gonzalez admitted to locking his 3-year-old and 6-year-old daughters to control them. They have been turned over to the Illinois child welfare agency and placed in foster care.
Authorities say they do not know whether Gonzalez has a lawyer yet. He is scheduled to appear in court July 31 on charges of misdemeanor child endangerment.
