Rashard Lewis scored 23 points, including the tying and go-ahead points on free throws with 10.9 seconds left, to give the Orlando Magic a 102-100 victory over the careening Dallas Mavericks on Friday night.
The Magic trailed for all but a few seconds over the first 45-plus minutes, but clutch baskets by Jameer Nelson and a pair of tough 3-pointers by Mickael Pietrus put Orlando ahead.
The Mavericks had two go-ahead chances after Lewis’ free throws, but Nelson stole an inbounds pass and Jason Terry’s potential tying 12-footer in the final seconds rattled in and out. When the buzzer sounded, Nelson jumped on the back of big man Dwight Howard and rode off in celebration of Orlando’s first win in Dallas since December 1997, ending a 10-game skid.
The Mavericks lost their fifth straight and remain winless at home (0-4) under new coach Rick Carlisle.
