Nobody epitomizes young Hollywood excesses more than Lindsey Lohan. Paris Hilton is a paragon of modesty next to Lohan.
By her own admission, Lohan's "life has become completely unmanageable because I am addicted to alcohol and drugs." The young actress has already spent a day in jail as part of a plea bargain which allowed her to avoid trial after she was charged with a misdemeanor DUI and drug possession, Lohan also agreed to community service and a sort of AA class.
But that has not helped her. She's fallen into even worse shape. She recently missed a court date and claimed that it was because she lost her passport while in France and could not fly back.
A judge has told her that she needs to get back on track is she is to avoid jail, and part of that is controlled Lohan's alcohol consumption. A judge has ordered her to limit her drinking and has mandated that she wear a bracelet to do just that.
And this may get in the way of her film career:
Wearing a dark gray suit, Lohan appeared in court with her lawyer, Shawn Chapman Holley, who told Superior Court Judge Marsha Revel that her client was scheduled to start filming a movie in Texas soon. The judge was not swayed and said the actress may have to delay the project, ordering Lohan to attach a SCRAM alcohol-monitoring bracelet to her ankle that will require her to undergo mandatory drug testing every week in the Los Angeles area if she wishes to stat free on bail. Revel also set a probation violation hearing for July 6 to following Lohan's failure to attend last week's scheduled hearing.
According to TMZ, (Lohan must begin wearing the SCRAM bracelet — which she wore in 2007 following her plea in the DUI cases — within 24 hours and attend all her scheduled alcohol education classes at least once a week.
If Revel determines that Lohan violated her probation by not attending her alcohol education classes as ordered, she could face a jail sentence of up to 180 days.
The kids enter the industry too young and then are poorly supervised, that's why they fall into a mess. And if they're not helped in time it will end in tragedy. The post isn't about Lohan, but I felt like writing about how corrosive Hollywood life often is.
I think the industry should be less welcoming to people that age and wait for them to mature a bit before making them stars.
