A person is dead and four are injured after lightning struck a pavilion at a Connecticut state park.

State environmental department spokesman Dennis Schain says the lightning struck shortly after 5 p.m. Sunday.

Strong thunderstorms moved through the state Sunday afternoon. Thousands of people in Connecticut lost power.
