Let's aboard a bus in New Delhi

Have you got a feel of the topic. No, ok, let me give a brief introduction of the situation.

In New Delhi the various mediums of transport are:

• Buses (Both DTC & private Blueline)

• Cars/Cabs (Personal/hired)

• Motorbikes (Personal)

• Autorickshaws (Hired)

• Metro Trains

• Local Trains

Of these, the widely used & available are the buses. So, a large proportion of population uses these. Not a new information for Delhites as Metro is not available to many a destinations, and other modes are not affordable for the majority.

Now a small scene:

I was going to Nehru Place from Munirka, on one of such buses. The bus was overcrowded with people one over another almost. Suddenly, the bus arrived to a stop and the conductor called for more people. Some people, may be they were in a hurry to get to their workplaces, obliged. The conductor, in attempt to help the people enter the bus, asked the fellow passengers to proceed towards the front half of the bus, but in a very rude language.

One gentleman was standing by me. He spoke to me "the passengers are compromising with their self respect to reach their destinations."

I was into thoughts suddenly. Why people are not trying to retort to save their self esteem? Is that the reason that they are into a situation that they feel pressure to reach their workplace on time? Is the behavior shown by the conductor also doe to overboarded condition of the bus?What is/are the reasons?

The reason may be anything of the above, but the answer is unique: people need either more local trains or they need the corporates distributed all over the nation, rather than being in only as less as 5% of the cities. Do you agree? What's your opinion?
