Kallis comes to the party...
If a Czech asks "Jak kalíš?" it very roughly translates as them saying "How is your wild party?", to which their friend might reply "Výborně!" or "Hezký!", meaning "Fantastic!" or "Beautiful!" respectively . If a Czech asked a South African the same question today, they might, I grant you, receive a slightly quizzical look, but then would probably get the same sort of superlative-laden answer because, yet again, the big-boned/quiffed/hearted all-rounder has come up trumps. As his team mates tumbled around him, Jacques has held his side together magnificently and managed to get a decent total on the board against India in the deciding test at Newlands. He ended on 161 in a South African total of 362, which is a pretty impressive proportional contribution to a side that also contains Smith, Amla and AB de V. This is Kallis' 39th ton so it's no huge shock he's reached three figures (he's now level with Punter with only the half-ton tonner Sachin ahead of him), but what is slightly surprising is that he has tried to kick on a bit scoring wise now he's with the tail, something he's been criticised for not doing in the past.
Keep an eye on this game. Now Jacques has jilted the advances of the Indian attack it should prove to be an intriguing shoot-out between Steyn and Morkel and the jewel-encrusted Indian line-up....
