Jurors in Dayton, Ohio, have reached a verdict in the case of a woman accused of killing her month-old daughter by burning the child in a microwave oven. The verdict was expected to be announced Friday.
The jury begin deliberations Thursday following closing arguments in the retrial of 28-year-old China Arnold.
Arnold is accused of killing her infant daughter Paris Talley in 2005. She is charged with aggravated murder and could face the death penalty if convicted.
A judge in February declared a mistrial.
Prosecutors say Arnold intentionally put her baby in the microwave oven and cooked the child to death after a fight with her boyfriend. Prosecutors say the couple had argued over whether the boyfriend was the biological father.
Defense attorneys say there is evidence that someone else was responsible.
