A jury has ordered two pharmaceutical companies to pay $114 million to Alabama for overcharging for Medicaid prescription drugs.
The jury found that GlaxoSmithKline should pay the state nearly $81 million in compensatory damages and that Novartis should pay more than $33 million in similar damages.
It declined to order any punitive damages. The state had asked for as much as $800 million in total damages. The state alleged the overpricing fraud occurred from 1991 to 2005.
