The nation’s first openly gay governor will not have to pay alimony to his ex-wife.

A superior court judge has ruled that former New Jersey Gov. James E. McGreevey must pay $1,075 a month in child support for their daughter.

His ex-wife, Dina Matos (MAY’tohs), asked for $2,500 a month alimony for four years and $1,750 a month in child support for their 6-year-old.

McGreevey is now a seminary student who says he’s too poor to pay alimony.

Superior Court Judge Karen Cassidy granted the couple’s divorce, ending a tumultuous eight-year marriage that crumbled publicly when McGreevey announced he was gay and had a homosexual affair.
