John McCain Hypocrisy On Libya
John McCain may be one of the most Gung-ho politicians in Washington. You would think a veteran and prisoner of war, one who experienced the brutality of overseas fighting, would be a little more cautious in his boosting. After all young men like him will be sent, and many will suffer irreparable harm and many will never come back. But McCain is one of these individuals who believes a love for war is synonymous with greatness and patriotism and that only losers and wimps prefer the language of caution and peace.

So McCain supported the Iraq war and the Afghanistan war, and wants a war against Iran, and perhaps Sweden because the Swedish ambassador once looked at him cockeyed, and now Libya. McCain is so excited about the U.S. bombing raids in Libya that he simultaneous praised and criticized Obama for the raids but that they should have been launched earlier.
Gadhafi is now the menacing tyrant from whom we cannot wait one second more before we seek to blow him up. I have no sympathies for Gadhafir and support the international effort against him. But McCain has a tweet which will continue to haunt him. You see, McCain likes to cosy up to dictators. He only becomes righteous against tyrant when they are seen as contrary to U.S. interests. Other than that he's our sonuvabitch.
Gadhafi, a man who killed dozens of Americans and has always been a ruthless tyrant, has been no exception. McCain now denounces him as an irascible dictator beyond redemption. But that's not what he said a while back. Here's what McCain wrote on his silly Twitter feed on August 5th, 2009 while visiting with that other hack and BFF Joe Lieberman:
Late evening with Col. Qadhafi at his "ranch" in Libya - interesting meeting with an interesting man.
Interesting, eh? Did Gadhafi share home recipes, what exactly what interesting about his raging tyrannical buffoon that McCain decided to share that lousy judgment with the world? Was his ability to remain in power unchallenged for so long so amusing? Inquiring minds would like to know.
