One writing about extremism, intolerance and genocidal rhetoric in Israel one should always note that this is the Zionist norm. Such discourse has dominated not only Israel but the Zionist movement from the beginning. Back in 1896, at the first Zionist conference in Basel, Switzerland the father of Political Zionism Theodore Herzl addressed the question of how to establish a Jewish state in a land the gathering audience knew was populated by Arabs. Herzl's answer was simply: "Those who desire the ends, desire the means." Herzl and the Zionist decided from the beginning that the Palestinians needed to be uprooted to make way for a Jewish state.

But while in the past the extremism and hate of Zionism was secular - thus fascist - today the same mentality of prejudice and genocide is voiced by religious fanatics - thus fundamentalist.
And in a blow the absurd claim that Israel is "the only democracy in the region," this extremist rhetoric is voiced by fundamentalist on the state payroll.
Take Rabbi Yitzchak Shapira. An ultra-Orthodox zealot, he recently authored a 200-page book arguing that it is acceptable to kill gentile children and babies if the are judged to endanger Jews. By gentile he means particularly Palestinians. Here's what this Jewish extremist recently wrote:
…It is permissible to kill gentile babies “because their presence assists murder, and there is reason to harm children if it is clear that they will grow up to harm us … it is permissible to harm the children of a leader in order to stop him from acting evilly … we have seen in the Halakha that even babies of gentiles who do not violate the seven Noahide laws, there is cause to kill them because of the future threat that will be caused if they are raised to be wicked people like their parents.”
So if you just expect a baby to one day pose a threat, it is okay to kill him or her. And this guy is not some aberration in Israel he represents not only a large segment of the population - if not majority - and this psychopath is a teacher. And not only is he allowed to spew his genocidal rhetoric, but gets paid by the Israeli government to do so.
in 2006-2007, the Ministry of Education department of Torah institutions transferred over a million shekels [$250,000] to [Shapira's] Od Yosef Hai yeshiva in Yitzhar.
The rest of his funding probably comes from fellow American zealots.
At his indoctrination center, he not only calls for the killing of babies, but also teaches anarchy and even killing left-wing Israelis:
[Rabbi Yitzchak Shapira] stated in his book, Torat Hamelekh that “a national decision is not necessary in order to permit the shedding of blood of an evil kingdom. Even individuals from the afflicted kingdom can attack them.”
“The commandments in the book do not suffice only with gentiles; you can also find in them approval to attack leftist professors: every citizen in the kingdom opposing us who encourages the [Palestinian] fighters or expresses satisfaction with their actions is considered a pursuer and his killing is permissible,” wrote the rabbi.
And Israel has the temerity to criticize Palestinian televisions!
