Israeli Rabbi: "The sole purpose of non-Jews is to serve Jews"
Another installment of ‘Your Crazy Rabbi Yosef’. If Yosef was a marginal figure in a heap of crazy rabbis, we could overlook him. But this guy is the religious leader of Shas - an ultra-Orthodox Jewish political party made up of Sephardi Jews (i.e. Arab Jews) and Shas, albeit a small political party, is a member of the current Israeli cabinet (it controls the interior ministry, for instance) and has leverage in the government and some control over the budget.

And Yosef is the spiritual leader of Shas, a head rabbi who influence extends beyond party members but to other Orthodox Sephardi Jews. And this guy is a zealot. Granted many people are zealots in Israel. But usually the ultra-nationalist and militarist “Death to the Arabs” kind. This guy combines that with religious fanaticism.
Here's some of his greatest hits:
He recently gave his opinion of Palestinians.
Abu Mazen and all these evil people should perish from this earth,” Rabbi Ovadia Yosef, spiritual head of the religious Shas party in Israel’s government, said in a sermon late on Saturday, using Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas’s popular name. “God should strike them and these Palestinians — evil haters of Israel — with a plague,” the 89-year-old rabbi said in his weekly address to the faithful, excerpts of which were broadcast on Israeli radio on Sunday.
That was the fanatical racism and militarism that is characteristic of most Israelis, but here is crazy Yosef adding his own touch of religious kookiness:
During his weekly Saturday night lesson, Rabbi Ovadia Yosef again stirs up a storm. This time, the Shas spiritual leader addressed the large number of religious women who wear wigs as a form of head covering, particularly among the women of Ger Hasidism. “A woman wears a wig. Why? There are Ger Hasids who are lenient as if Ger Hasidism is the entire world. This is not true. The religious arbiters wrote explicitly that this is forbidden, that this is grave,” said Rabbi Yosef.
And now he tells about his idea of pluralism:
"The sole purpose of non-Jews is to serve Jews, according to Rabbi Ovadia Yosef, the head of Shas’s Council of Torah Sages and a senior Sephardi adjudicator."
This is not new. Amongst the Israeli right such hateful rhetoric against non-Jews is the norm. The settlers, in particular. State sanctioned rabbis told Israeli soldiers right before the Gaza war, when Israel massacred hundreds of Palestinian civilians, that the Palestinians were gentiles and intruders on Jewish land and that Judaism condemns any act of mercy against gentiles. Such right-wing rabbis view the Jews as superior to all and exhibit hatred toward all non-Jews, especially Arabs and Muslims.
Let's see if all those anti-Islam bigots who go around saying how all Muslims want non-Muslims to be dhimmis will notice when a Jewish nutcase calls for the subjugation of non-Jews to Jewish rule or, to be more historical, for all the quotes from Islamic texts about dhimmis let us see if they have ever read Maimonides' writings, one of the most celebrated Jewish theologians whose writings still inspire Jewish fundamentalists, when his proscriptions for the treatment of non-Jews under Jewish rule is more harsher the Wahhabis treatments of non-Muslims under Islamic rule.
Of course they will not bother which such inconvenience which distracts from the anti-Islam obsession.
