Israel Announces Hundreds of New Illegal Settlements

In response to an admittedly heinous attack against a settler family on the Israeli-occupied West Bank (killing three children and their parents), the Israeli governments has responded by chauvinistically exploiting the murders to announced hundreds of new internationally illegal settlements on the West Bank in a spiteful act designed as collective revenge against the Palestinians.

This merits a few points:

1) First, condemnation: Whoever did this act (and no one has been identified yet, although let's assume it was Palestinian militants) committed an atrocious and unjustifiable murder of innocent. The illegality of residency does not condone an attack against civilians, let alone innocent children. It was a terrorist attack and should be roundly condemned by all people, including pro-Palestinians. Such an act is beneath the righteous of the Palestinian cause.

2) The self-righteousness from Israel and Zionists is beyond contempt and the height of hypocrisy. Israel has killed hundreds of Palestinian and Lebanese children in recent years and abuse of Palestinian children, often beaten and arrested by thuggish Israeli occupation troops, is a routine fact of Israeli occupation. The settlements are all illegal and this particular settlement was known for violence against Palestinians. In fact, settler groups have a name for it "price tag". In Hebron, a sister fanatical settlement, abuse against Palestinians, which involved murder and vandalism, is designed to make life so insufferable for Palestinians that they'd just immigrate and leave the land for Israeli Jews to claim. These are not pioneers seeking "a land without a people for a people without a land" but religious fanatics with a militant and intolerant world view who frequently attack innocent Palestinians. Spare us the empty rhetoric from Israel! The settlements are all illegal and the settlers need to be all rooted out behind the 1968 Green Line.

3) Consider Israeli logic: all Palestinians should be held accountable for the actions of a few. The mirror image of an anti-Semite who judges Jews as a collective as well. Settlements are illegal, but Israeli uses them as instruments of punishment and war. And this is just a pretext. Israel has been building illegal settlements in war and peace, no matter what Palestinians aid, and even during the recent so-called "freeze" settlement expansion continued unabated also with a new Israeli excuse as to why. The far-right government was looking for a time to blow off the world and announce a new project. They'll now wax sadly and with fury about how no one shall judge them after the horrific act. Israel is basically saying that it has a right to be moved by emotions rather than reason or international law and decency. And by this logic are Palestinians allowed to seek collective attacks against Israeli when they are victims of Israeli terrorism?

4) The shameless exploitation of a terrorist act speaks to the moral bankruptcy of Israel.
