Is US court’s decision to ban death penalty for child rape justified?

The Supreme Court of United States declared on Wednesday that executions are too severe a punishment for raping children, despite the ‘years of long anguish’ for victims, in a ruling that restricts the death penalty to murder and crimes against the state.

The decision is a shock for many, who believe that such punishment deters others. On the other hand, many human rights activists opposing death penalty are rejoicing. Human Rights and other activists believe that human life is too precious, doesn’t matter how corrupted it may be. Every man should be given a chance to recover or live his life, why not behind the bars.
