Is this the 'Reality'...
Gone are the days when people used to dilate their eyes on their TV sets well in 5-10 minutes advance lest they miss any scene of their favorite episodes of Ramayana or Mahabharata. Today, our society has got transformed to a large extent. We have a generation which gets fascinated towards the shows of “Bigg Boss” or “Emotional Atyachaar”.
Today, a different television world exists in which mutual Mahabharata between the kin, couples etc. has become a widespread theme of most of the TV shows. A new form of justice is being dispensed in the television world. People appear on these reality shows just to get their mutual disputes and marital discords get resolved by the famous personalities. These reality shows which are widely heeded by today’s generation contain abusive explicit material which adversely affects the humane behavior of today’s youth.
Recently, a 24 year old male participant of a reality show, “Rakhi ka Insaaf”, Luxman, allegedly committed suicide after being humiliated by the show host Rakhi Sanwant. Luxman was called an effeminate by the item girl on the show which was being aired on the television. Luxman, who thought of getting his marital discords resolved by Rakhi ultimately lost his life. How a person who is always in controversies would be able to dispense justice? Putting Rakhi in the shoes of a judge is just an attempt to raise the TRP of the show. This is just an attempt to raise the TRP. Her credibility has always been on a slippery ground.
People, In order to get their family matters resolved, appear on such shows which claim to dispense justice but this results in the complete deadlock.
At present date, a variety of reality shows are being telecasted on different channels which are based on contrasting themes which vary from onscreen dating to onscreen marriages. These reality shows lack the ecumenical approach rather they are focused on violence, abuses, deception etc. These reality shows throw adverse impact on today’s generation and are a big speckle on our Indian society.
Consequent upon the adverse impact of these reality shows, today’s youth is not able to focus on their studies. Witnessing these shows has become a top most priority not just of youth but also of the other elders of the society. There is the paucity of human and moral values in these shows.
Recently the bigwigs of the telecasting ministry raised their voices against the telecast of such futile shows. So, in order to keep the younger generation away from the adverse impact of such reality shows, it was proclaimed that they should be telecasted after 11 pm. But the enactment of this rule resulted in a fiasco. It hardly matters whether the show is being telecasted at 6 in the evening or after 11 pm in the night. The young psyche addicted to that show is hell-bent to witness it even after 11 pm and that too more easily on holidays.
Such television shows throw a vast adverse impact on our social life also. We start imitating the style of our favorite diva which is not liked by all. Such shows have snatched the solace from our lives and society. I think our telecasting ministry should try to bring some special reforms in the television world. In my point of view such shows should be banned from being telecasted.
