Is Rahul Gandhi A True And A Real Leader ?
Rahul Gandhi's legendary background has helped him have an edge over his political rivals. However, let us not harbor the illusion that he could morph into an able leader simply by virtue of his iconic political legacy.

I don't think his cosmetic gesture like sharing food with Dalits will ever turn him into a true leader. May be the sycophants in Congress fool him and others but he lacks the charisma to emerge as leader of the masses. He cannot elevate himself to the level of Gandhi and Nehru by delivering statements like " If anyone from the Gandhi-Nehru family had been active in politics then, the Babri Masjid would not have fallen ". When he gave his first interview to the foreign media he boasted that his main attempt would be to " to reduce caste and religious tensions".However, going by his statement, can't we see that he is pursuing the same appeasement policies which Congress is used to since Independence.

The Congress party is interested in his larger than life emergence in National politics. One needs to ask why should people love him when he is no different than others ? One needs to ask from him what will nation get other than finding a new leader pursuing worn out policies of Congress ?
Have a look at his austerity drive.Nothing has changed as we found several leaders of Congress enjoying VIP arrangement during their so-called tours of Dalit villages. In one such Rahul's austerity campaign in Chennai more than One crore was spent by the party !! What sort of values is he trying to introduce in Indian politics ?
Recently,we all saw his tamasha where we found him involved in traveling in Mumabi's local train. The sponsored media persons hailed it as a great gesture. The whole thing was seen as an attempt to identify with the problems suffered by the common man. Now have a look at this information.

"Swiss magazine Schweizer Illustrierte [2] in 11 November 1991 revealed that Rahul was the beneficiary of accounts worth $2 billion dollars controlled by his mother Sonia Gandhi.[36][37]
Harvard scholar Yevgenia Albats cited KGB correspondence about payments to Rajiv Gandhi and his family, which had been arranged by Viktor Chebrikov,[38] which shows that KGB chief Viktor Chebrikov sought in writing an "authorization to make payments in US dollars to the family members of Rajiv Gandhi, namely Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi and Paola Maino, mother of Sonia Gandhi" from the CPSU in December 1985. Payments were authorized by a resolution, CPSU/CC/No 11228/3 dated 20/12/1985; and endorsed by the USSR Council of Ministers in Directive No 2633/Rs dated 20/12/1985. These payments had been coming since 1971, as payments received by Sonia Gandhi's family and "have been audited in CPSU/CC resolution No 11187/22 OP dated 10/12/1984.[39] In 1992 the media confronted the Russian government with the Albats disclosure. The Russian government confirmed the veracity of the disclosure and defended it as necessary for "Soviet ideological interest."
Against this backdrop, is there any point in hailing his transformation into a leader who shares the road with common man.
Great leaders are often shaped by hardships and the ironies of life—in this case, Rahul Gandhi's privileged upbringing has done nothing for him. Since most of the GenNext leaders have been unable to shake off their elite tastes, a huge rift exists between them and the ordinary citizens whom they wish to represent.
By contrast, the ability of yesteryear's leaders to speak the language of the masses helped them strike a deep bond with the man on the street. Those who are supporting Gandhi—Congress Party sycophants rather than real well-wishers—have their own vested interests for doing so.They believe that Rahul's rise might be the lifeline for their sagging political careers.

We need real leaders. We don't need charismatic leaders devoid of substance. If charisma and larger than life image are most important elements in the making of a leader then what's the harm in having all the movie stars as our leaders ?
