Is Halal Slaughter Disgusting?

Recently I wrote a sarcastic piece mocking anti-Islam bigots for their ludicrous uproar over Western firms offering a line of Halal-compliment products.

Underneath the story a commentator wrote: "For me the disgusting part is that animals have had their throats cut open and are bled a slow terrifying death with their eyes watching their killers. This can take place on a pavement or in a backyard where the animal’s blood runs away into the gutter, i.e. the storm drain. Takes us back to medieval times."

Well, let me just say: You are so wrong! The Halal way of killing animals is humane. It treats every animal as a blessing from God and a prayer is said before the, say, sheep is cut. The animal is attended to with care and allowed to grow in a natural manner. The animal is never abused will growing into an adult. He/She is always regarded with care. And the killing is a ritual which honors the blessing the animal is and the animal is killed with individual concern and then attended to with further individual concern.

Compare this Halal way of killing with the industrialized manner of the slaughterhouse. Do you think that is disgusting? Stuffing animals in horrifically cramped warehouses, feeding them some scientific mesh in order to unnaturally fast-track their growth, and then lining them up for machine slaughter. Without a prayer, without a tender hand, without individual care, without any appreciation for the blessing God has bestowed.

The Islamic way is not disgusting. Unless you're opposed to any killing of animals I do not see how you can selectively view the Halal manner disgusting. The animal being killed is a slaughterhouse also dies a slow death while watching a machine. Better to be watching the man his flesh will benefit as nature intended.

This is not about medieval times, but simply about doing something the humane and natural way or doing something through a de-"humanized" corporatist, industrialized, machinated, unnatural, cut-throat slaughter-by-the-thousands.

The Islamic way honors the animal. The new found western way is not only an affront to any regard for animals, but is such a disgusting way of slaughter that it has lead to so many diseases. The scientific mesh they're feed often leads to, say, "Mad Cow disease because man is playing with biology. And widespread disease is possible with a slaughter house since the meat is all mixed together and if, say, one goat gets sick because they are cramped so closely many will get sick. But cutting one goat at a time makes almost prohibitive a food crisis.
