Iran: Israel will be wiped out

LIFESTYLE. .

Apparently, Iran's President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad's statement yesterday that Israel will be wiped out one day just like the Soviet Union, brings out the hatred nurtured by the hard core 'Holocaust' deniers.

Ahmadinejad was speaking to researchers and writers from 30 countries, including Europe and the United States, gathered in the two-day conference in Tehran to argue that either the Holocaust did not happen or it was exaggerated beyond comprehension.

The time when the West is seriously considering to impose sanctions on Iran over its nuclear program, the recent comments have no doubt further isolated the country.

Ahmadinejad said, 'The Zionist regime will be wiped out soon the same way the Soviet Union was, and humanity will achieve freedom'. He further stressed upon elections among 'Jews, Christians and Muslims so the population of Palestine can select their government and destiny for themselves in a democratic manner." He called 'the Holocaust as a "myth" used to impose the state of Israel on the Arab world.

Ahmadinejad's move and perhaps the conference's motive to discuss the 60-year old dispute questioning the genocide of 6 million Jews by the Nazis doesn't make any sense in the modern world. By digging the graves at this point of time, all participants of the conference, in fact, expose the prevalent detestation against 'Zionist' ideology and diplomatic rhetoric to garner support of anti-Western supporters globally. However, we'll know, it'll never pave a path to build a strong nation based on bring out anything positive

The idea of now setting up a 'fact-finding commission' to determine the authenticity of the Holocaust will only add fuel to the blazing fire in the Middle East. It's a crime in a few western countries, including France, Germany or Austria, to deny the Holocaust, however, the events penned by historians about what exactly happened in the Nazi concentration camps cannot be denied too.

Rabbi Moshe David Weiss, one of six members attending from the group Jews United Against Zionism, told delegates, "We don't want to deny the killing of Jews in World War II, but Zionists have given much higher figures for how many people were killed. They have used the Holocaust as a device to justify their oppression."

Holocaust deniers question the creation of Israel and say that it violates Jewish religious law.

Doesn't matter how hard Iran presses itself as a home of freedom and free-speech, majority of Human rights groups label it as one of the world's worst violators of free speech. And the fact that number of newspapers closed in the country, atrocities against journalists and blocked web sites prove it. The United States and Britain have criticized the conference and so do we. It's shocking that Iranians can deny the Holocaust, that's not a matter of concern for the new generation under turmoil in the country, but have no right to stand and give voice to their views against the government without risking jail.
