Iran’s foreign minister dismisses the threat of an attack against his country, saying the U.S. isn’t in a position to open a second front in the Middle East and Israel has too much political turmoil.
Manouchehr Mottaki said in an interview with The Associated Press on Wednesday he does not believe the U.S. will “resort to such craziness” while its economy suffers and it is bogged down in wars in Afghanistan and Iraq.
“The U.S. is not in a position where it can take another risk in the region,” he said.
Mottaki told the AP that Iran is seeking a diplomatic solution and expects to respond in less than two weeks to an international package of incentives seeking to end the crisis over Iran’s nuclear enrichment program.
