IQ is more : Imagination low

POLITICS. .

Of late trends reveal that the human beings have IQ now but their imagination on the decline.

This may be result of lot of application of computing technologies and high penetration of computers in our life style. Human have become better intelligent but less imaginative. This is not good trend as it would lead to less and less innovations. And with out innovation what good is for us. Repetitive jobs are killing the basic instinct of human brain. This more true where human beings are subjected to think less and do more by following machine dictated procedures. More specially to China, Korea and other developing countries where certain out put is expected from these workers. Thinkers will do lot of good work if they leave human brain as more fertile and imaginative.

A typical case that comes to my mind out of my work experience is like this one : in a typical assembly operations of printed card boards, the technology partner provide light guided machines to locate particular position for inserting components kept in bins. This operation was carried on for quite some time. This provided ease of change of programme and adherence to guided principals to accept change with out any issue if process and requirements asked for changes. By adoption of these process one could achieve maximum speed and produce as many number of card assembly. But the Indian brain will not rest at that. So my boys invented another procedure in which they identified maximum number and type of card assembly to be produced.

The larger the requirement it was found to be better. They created dedicated groups and made them to learn by heart the component placement on the card assembly. This resulted in less mistakes and enhance productivity. Quality was better as companied to earlier practice, so management accepted this change production technology. A smaller group was created to carry on the job of various types and for smaller numbers still with light guided assembly machines to meet the production programme. This new experience gave higher incentives to the workers as produced more and more. Group incentive schemes were put in operations to smoothen small irritants. This way this experience was fruitful to both employees and the management.

This goes on to prove that Indians are still much better and imaginative. However, with the times changing to fast lanes and more and more computers taking on we really do not know whether we would maintain high standards of mathematics and imagination.

Time to invest wisely to retain some of the grand features of yester years in our education system in changed scenario so that Indians remain imaginative and innovative
