State investigators who have been probing Baltimore Mayor Sheila Dixon’s financial dealings spent more than seven hours searching her home Tuesday.

Her attorney, Dale Kelberman, said investigators arrived around 6:30 a.m. They left at 1:40 p.m. with six boxes and a large cooler.

Dixon said she has been cooperating with prosecutors and has “no idea” what they were looking for.

The mayor, who previously characterized the investigation as a “witch hunt,” did not repeat that phrase but noted that the probe has been going for a few years.

“I’m going to stay focused on running the city,” she said. “I don’t have anything to hide.”

For more than two years, prosecutors have been looking into Dixon’s financial dealings when she was City Council president. The probe involves city money that went to companies employing Dixon’s sister and her former campaign chairman. Dixon maintains she did nothing wrong, and the Baltimore City Board of Ethics cleared her.

Kelberman said Dixon has done nothing wrong and that’s why no charges have been filed.

Prosecutors declined comment.
