Indian students in foreign soil
Thousands of Indian students are studying abroad and every year there is an increase in the percentage of students moving to US for higher studies. It is said that nearly 2,50,000 thousands students are from India. A large number of students are from Andhra Pradesh.

Living in a foreign country is no easy; the students mainly go for either for doing Bachelors or mainly Masters say MS as an example. They parents have higher expectations from their children who move abroad for studies. One is the bright future with the Masters degree in hand and second is getting a good bride for their son. Same is with the parents who want their daughter to marry an NRI.
The series of death of several students has no doubt scared parents a lot but the students who were brutally murdered are living alone in apartments. Six students from Andhra Pradesh have been died in the last two years.
The JNTU students have launched an e-mail and SMS campaign to persuade Indian students in the United States who are living alone in apartments. They have come up with this campaign after the death of Dr. Aparna Jinega, a software engineer who had a brutal death abroad. It is a significant notion to inform all the students to share room with their friends instead of living alone.
Before Aparna the medical and Post Graduate students were killed. In December 2007 K Chandrasekhar Reddy were gunned down at Louisiana University. A Srinivas, a post-graduate medical student was also killed in Pennsylvania in March 2008. Again in September 2008, Soumya Reddy, a post-graduate student was killed by some unidentified people in Chicago. Kiran kumar and Two PhD students were murdered.
The families of the victims don’t get to know anything about the progress of investigation. They are kept in the dark and the parents get no justice to the death of the children. This has led to the ill health of parents who fight for their children and get no output.
The fact that the groom is working in the US is not enough for parents to marry their daughter anymore. These days they fear of insecurity to the girls getting married to NRIs. Several deaths of Indians in US have led down the proposals of NRIs in Andhra Pradesh mainly due to the student’s deadly trap in abroad. It is good to have detailed inquires and relatives abroad before alliance of grooms in US.
There will always be cultural differences in foreign soil which creates bitterness in the hearts of people said Mr. Venkatarami Reddy, Managing Director of Career Overseas. If we take care of ourselves properly there will be no problem. The students should opt for those universities which have good facilities in urban areas rather than going for cheap rural ones. It will help them to study more peacefully than in panic.
There should be talks and meetings of Indian President with Foreign Embassy to provide security to the students studying in US. Only then the insecurities of Indian students and their parents will be diminished.
