Indian Parliament on Terrorist Radar : Attack From Sky?
It is believed, a joint parliamentary committee will meet soon to finalize a proposal to provide a security blanket over the parliament by covering it with an electronic umbrella. Ever since it was first attacked in December 2001, Indian security establishments have been planning to provide an electronic protection over the top of the world’s largest democracy.

As a part of the plan, Indian Air Force has already initiated the installation of a radar on the top of the parliament structure to prevent any attack from the sky. New Zealand-based Gallagher Group has been assigned the task of installing a perimeter protection system.
The modus-operandi is simple. There is a layer of fence in the form of a umbrella atop the parliament. Active pulses are sent every 1.2 seconds across the fence. Anyone intruding the fence will get a jolt and the alarm system in it gets activated. The moment the siren goes, the site is monitored over a central control monitor. And this needs round-the-clock monitoring of the system.
After the recent disclosures by few arrested Lashkar terrorist , the possibility of such aerial attack had come to light. Nevertheless there lies a catch. The threat can be neutralized only if it is detected in the central monitoring system. Indian cops have been caught napping many a times . Therefore, the million dollar question is – will history repeat itself?
