Indian designers on the roll
The 2008 Lakme Fashion Week Spring/Summer ’09 was all embellished with sequins and bright hues. Bollywood A-listers occupied the front rows as usual. While many of them scorched the ramp, others cheered up the designers.
This is what the fashion week at day one had in store.

Designer duo Nikhil and Shantanu Mehra's collection spoke in length about the multi-cultural colours of India. As Nikhil said, "Our collection are vibrant with different elements from almost all parts of the world."

It was basically all tribal blacks and reds, highlighted with silver and ombre effect that the model flaunted on the ramp. They also sported gorgeous French gowns and jewellery that refelcted the glory of the historical era and also colourful braids. The outfits were mostly in silk, satin and velvet. However the highlight of the collection was the menswear, which stood out with almost eight forms of texturing on a single fabric. The showstopper of the day was actress Deepika Padukone, who walked down the ramp for the designers. Awesome isn't it?
