ICC Cricket World Cup is on but is that all?
Watching the Indian masters tame the Bangla tigers was an elating feeling especially after the humiliation our co-hosts had caused us last time in the West Indies. With a swashbuckling knock Virender Sehwag has sent out the signal to one and all, and with his mince-no-words comments he has rubbed the salt in Bangladesh’s fresh wounds.
Everything is honky dory or should have been except I am a little discomforted by all cricketing hullabaloo. On Saturday with opening match that too India’s, in fact it just being cricket was a good enough reason, live telecast was a given thing. And it was live- live on Star Sports, live on ESPN, live on Star Cricket, I mean come on guys. Leave some space for others.
Missed football, don't want to miss Formula 1
There was no football, it was an FA Cup weekend! There will be EPL as well, and March is up on us and Bahrain would be in news not just for the latest political upheaval but for my favorite Formula 1 season opener. I hope they show the qualifiers and the race on ESPN. Please guys if you are listening don’t do this, I mean please do this.
We love cricket but we love other sports too. And as much as we love to watch cricket, especially the so called likely to be Team India’s farewell gift to Sachin Tendulkar, we might be interested in watching other sports too. After all, for the uninitiated even the National Games are on- after an agonizingly long wait. But that’s a more sensitive topic (TRPs matter - These Rule Primetime, and not the National Interest).
Since there are still a few weeks left for Formula 1 and fate of football looks more or less settled, I’ll just keep my fingers crossed for the upcoming weekends and reach the bridges before I cross these.
