I Want Greece To Fail

I want Greece to fail, default on its debt, damn it! I harbor not even the most remote prejudice against the Greek people. I know some Greeks. I find them nice people whom I like very much; incredibly welcoming and kind. I wish them no ill will. I wish them only the best.

But this is not about 'the people' it is about a corrupt political elite which has been short-sighted and dishonest. The nation's politicians have literally bankrupt the country. One government after another was only concerned with its reelection - handing out expensive state jobs to voters and showering constituents with entitlements with only an eye toward their political standing and with no concern for long-term solvency.

Why should other taxpayers now bailout the short-sightedness and greed of the Greeks, especially since the ruling government is hesitant to enact more reforms?

Greek should pay for its poor behavior to send a message to out nations that they better shape up and not rely on a European bailout. And selfish voters need to realize that nothing comes for free. If they want a massive welfare state, fine; but the rest of us do not have to pay for it. Let the Greeks solve their own problems. It is as simple as that.

And let that be a lesson for Portugal, Spain, Ireland, Italy and all other spendthrift nations, including the U.S.

A Greek default would be amusing, to see corrupt politicians and entitlement voters pay the price for their decadence.

Let Greece fail.
