Finance minister Pranab Mukherjee on Friday presented Union Budget 2010-2011 amidst the news of clear signs of economical growth pegged at a rate much higher than expected. As if that news wasn’t enough, he has announced the New Income Tax slab which is going to benefit almost 60% of the tax payers.
In simple words, for those of you whose total income during the financial year doesn’t exceed Rs1.6 Lakhs, you can take a worry free nap. Next, upto Rs 5 Lahks you can enjoy the revised and much lower tha the previous rate @ 10%. The next slab if meant for those whose income is between five and eight lakhs. They have to pay tax @ 20%. Previously this slab was 3 lakhs – 5 lakhs. Lastly, for those whose income exceeds 8 lakhs, the tax is to be paid @ 30%. And previously this slab was 5 lakhs.
