Housewives: let us worship them
It is unbelievable. The government has clubbed the more than 36 crore housewives in the country along with the category of beggars, prisoners and prostitutes. Such a classification is a humiliation for women in a democratic country like ours. It is not in consonance with our culture and tradition where a woman is worshiped like a Goddess.

Kindly treat the housewives with dignity and respect, as they are also one of the main pillars of our family institution. Their work may not be economically productive, but the contribution of a housewife in building up a family is immense and incalculable in money terms. Their contribution cannot be calculated in terms of wages or values. Can anybody think about a respectable family without a good housewife?.
It is a shame that the government has bracketed the housewives with the category of beggars and prostitutes in the Census. It is is a shame that no civilised society should do. It is not at all a sensible approach by a civil society and the Supreme Court of India has objected and appealed the Central government to treat housewives with respect.
The Supreme Court opposes the way of the government describing as ‘a strong gender bias against women’ which is absolutely insensitive and callous. The court has sought a “proper rethink” on their status by Parliament taking into consideration the value of household work.
According to the census 2001, about 36 crores housewives in India have been classified as non-workers, which is placed under the category of beggars, prostitutes and prisoners.
It is a fact that a housewife renders her invaluable service round the clock. Right from her daily services towards her husband and children along with her in-laws, she is constantly doing her work which cannot be compared to anything or anyone. And she does all these works with utmost sincerity and compose and does not expect anything in return except the love and care from the other family members.
The classification of housewife along with prostitutes and beggars is the height of humiliation It is not in consonance with our culture and tradition where a woman is worshiped like a Goddess. Let it be so in future also as there can be no good family without a good housewife.
