HEAVY RAIN BEATS RECORD

It rained heavy in Shimla yesterday. today’s newspapers inform us that it rained 531mm in Shimla and 728mm in Dharamsala beating records of past 38 years in Shimla and 42 years in Dharamsala. The beauty about Shimla is that even after this heavy rain sun appeared all of sudden to allow shimlaites to move out of their houses. I went for a walk on mall with my father who has made it a routine to spend a couple of weeks with me ever since I shifted to this place some eight years ago from Rajasthan. Today when we discussed the rain records we realized that if it rains 531mm in one year in the western part of Rajasthan, people thank god for being kind! He also praises the electricity and telephone departments as these two services remained functional. In my hometown (why? it happens even in metros) in Rajasthan even a 50mm rain can jeopardize normal life and essential services. Living on mountains does have many advantages!!
