Hawaii Governor To Take On Birthers: Why Bother?

First of all, how cool would it be to be governor of Hawaii? A small laid-back island state paradise. 'Governor your five o'clock is ready.' 'O great, prepare the mojitos.' I mean, what pressing issue is there in Hawaii expect making sure the beaches are clean?

Anyhow, the newly inaugurated Neil Abercrombie intends to take on the birthers as a matter of principle. He was a friend to the late parents of President Obama and knew Obama as a baby and child. He is naturally offended that a batch of insane right-wing zealots would dispute the integrity of Obama's parents and render them part of some leftist conspiracy to elect a seditionist Kenyan Muslim who would destroy America through the imposition of Shari'a. A conspiracy involving Islamic fundamentalist perfidy. That's a new one!

Abercrombie intends to provide further irrefutable evidence to the birthers in order to obviate their silly cause. Fat chance. If you think these people are motived by actual facts and evidence, good luck to you. This is a sincere but misguided effort against implacable opponents who will continue to obstinate no matter what is placed before them. And this is misguided because it will only fuel their cause and even afford them some undue recognition which they will disguise as bequeathing credulity . After all, they will ask, why do they take us seriously if it is all so silly? Of course, nobody should take these conspiracy racist nuts serious.

These are not people amenable to reason. They will go on to believe whatever they want because 1) they hate Obama and 2) they work backwards from that point and will cling to whatever tool they have to argue that Obama is not a legit president.

This is a fallacy if you think you'll end the birthers by producing documents. Because their obvious response will be: "The conspiracy is bigger than we thought and goes to the top!" And that's exactly what they have already said with the birther leader, yes, Virgina, the birthers have a leader and so do the lesbians (did you not know that?), saying that she'll only accept the evidence if her and some forensic scientist get to view the documents as well and prove their authenticity. Right. And then there will be some C.I.A. "explanation" which led to the falsification of dated atoms or something!

This is a futile effort. Nothing will change their minds. They're insane. That's the point.
