Production platforms and drilling rigs were back to normal Thursday following evacuations triggered by Tropical Storm Edouard’s pass through the northern Gulf of Mexico.

The Minerals Management Service said evacuations had ended at all of the 717 staffed Gulf production platforms and the 125 drilling rigs in the region.

The Gulf’s daily average production of 1.3 million barrels of oil a day and 7.7 billion cubic feet of natural gas had just about been totally restored, the MMS said.

Edouard made landfall east of Galveston, Texas, and west of the Louisiana border on Tuesday, and quickly weakened as it moved inland. The storm drew little attention from petroleum markets.
