A NASCAR appeals committee has amended the penalty levied against Robby Gordon, returning the 100 points the driver was docked for an infraction found in Daytona.
The reversal Wednesday saves Gordon’s season by moving him back up to 21st in the standings. The original penalty, combined with a crash in Sunday’s race at Las Vegas Motor Speedway, had dropped Gordon to 37th in the standings.
The National Stock Car Racing Commission also lifted crew chief Frank Kerr’s six-week suspension, but raised his monetary fine from $100,000 to $150,000.
