Glenn Beck: Fooling our idiots
While I was abroad, I went online once to retrieve an email. In the course of doing so, I came across a news item that said Glenn Beck’s program on Fox was losing advertisers. The news troubled me. I do not like Glenn Beck but I do not want him run off the air. He will be more dangerous underground than on the air.

So on coming back home, I checked out Glenn. I was ready to give up my widow’s mite if that will help keep him on the air. Knowing what the other side is thinking is very essential in this upcoming battle.
What I found out was that Glenn is doing great, still robust, still comical and still full of himself. I also found out that the reaction of disgruntled viewers is getting to him. He seemed like a man who just found out Newton’s law that says that action and reaction are equal and opposite. He is not second-guessing himself; at least, not yet. But he now pauses to pre-empt what the ‘liberal’ media might say about his utterances.
Glenn is still gleaming, but now gingerly.
It was pathetic watching him try to steer his diatribe on anyone he sees as opposing the Constitution. He speaks as if there is a consensus as to what the Constitution says. I felt like reminding him that a Constitution that survived the assault of Bush/Cheney administration will survive anything Obama can throw at it. If the media is docile now, they were non-existent then. Glenn is wrapping his pus-filled body around the Constitution. But the Constitution is balking at that same old antics used by swindlers all over history.
Glenn was still confused on how to appeal to a wider audience of disgruntled Republicans, Democrats and Independents. His pocketbook is moving him in that direction but his producers and his broadcast network are firmly committed to the minor conservative base that is facing extinction and will screaming at the top of its voice until the last of them is gone.
More pitiable was seeing Glenn go after minor players in the government for communist or radical inclinations because the last time he went against Obama, he was virtually consumed by the rant that came out of his mouth. This new posture diminished Glenn. He looked small and sounded like a rambler when placed beside the great issues of the day.
What Glenn is not doing is sitting back and waiting for his sunset. He is busy out there chunking out bestsellers after bestsellers. His upcoming book is called “Glenn Beck: Arguing with Idiots.”
Every nation has its own idiots. There are the big ones, the small ones, the fat ones and the slim ones. Glenn is not an idiot. But he knows the American idiots when he sees them. And he is skilled at fooling them, not arguing with them.
There is no arguing with idiots. You fool and rule idiots or you confuse your challengers with idiots. Glenn Beck has been fooling our idiots. He is desperately doing everything to rebrand his challengers as idiots.
Now, that is a desperate move by a desperate man. In the end, the tragedy of Glenn Beck is the tragedy of us all. He allowed the fear of change to consume him. But as we know, courage precedes change. He who is without courage will know no change. Nobody is telling Glenn and the idiots he fools that we must change if we hope to ever remain the same.
