Glenn Beck Condemned For Anti-Jewish Comments
Glenn Beck has seriously lost it. The Fox News host has long been known for his outlandish conspiracy-minded views and absurd comparisons whereby everything left-of-center is automatically a communist-Nazi threat to liberty.

The man also has a long monomaniacal fear of Islam. Recently he subdued it for fear of Obama and his commie friends. But the Egypt uprising led Beck to spend days warning about his new vision: that a global Islamic caliphate is being born as part of a socialist-Islamist conspiracy to destroy American way of life and that the revolution is not spontaneous but all part of a well-crafted, years-in-the-making plot. And, as a last note, China will soon use the fall of American power to take over Australia. I am not kidding, Glenn actually said this. Just watch this quick recap:
In recent weeks he has also engaged in borderline antisemitism presenting the Jewish financier and liberal activist George Soros as a seditious individual singlehandedly wrecking world economies and seeking to destroy America from within, and Glenn even presented Soros as some sort of self-hating Jew who during the Holocaust laughed at the plight of other Jews while he was being hidden by a Catholic couple. Perhaps aware that to devote several shows presenting a Jewish banker as some sort of puppet hand who has caused economic turmoil for his self-profit reeks of classical anti-Jewish canards, Glenn reminded the audience that he, unlike the anti-Zionist Soros, is a passionate supporter of Israel. A cheap and defensive tactic designed to distract and a moot point, as if one cannot be pro-Israel for other reasons than philosemitism (or be anti-Israel and be philosemitism, for that matter) but for their own foreign policy views of supporting Israel as simply the 'enemy of my enemy'. Beck simply hates Muslims more than he adheres to antisemitic world views.
Jewish American organizations at the time played it cautiously and either did not criticize Beck or were very timid, likely due to Beck's stated support for Israel and the opportunistic habit of many Jewish orgs. to ignore antisemitism provided pro-Zionism is present. There may have been another reason: according to commentator M.J. Rosenberg of the watchdog group Media Matters for America, many simply feared that attacking Beck would unleash antisemitism on his show to millions of his viewers as Beck would shrilly retaliate.
But whatever the reason Beck has now crossed the line and finally being scolded by those institutions. On his radio show, where is even more unhinged (I know it seems impossible, but trust me) he compared Reform Judaism, the mainstream tenet of Jewish faith which is the branch most American Jews follow, to radical Islam, a genuinely extreme movement.
The likening can be dismissed as simply and unfounded, but it was what Beck thinks about Reform Judaism which alarmed many Jews. Instead of being a faith which provides solace to millions of Jews, Beck simply brushed that aside to haughtily state that Reform Judaism is all about politics and apparently nothing more. Just like radical Islam is political Islam.
That is Beck's demeanor: a high-school drop out who's ignorance is only commensurate with his bravado and his belief that he is ordained with some superior mentally skills to connect dots and "inform" people of conspiracies to destroy the world and make blunt judgement about other people and their faiths.
For the record, if you think Beck is presumptuous and offensive when it comes to Judaism it is nothing next to his unassailable bigoted views of Islam. But Islam is a easy target with impunity for offenders, perhaps attacking Jews will finally unveil Beck as the lunatic he is and sideline him from the mainstream into oblivion. His ratings have already decline nearly 40%. Good news for Muslims and Jews.
