Glenn Beck: 10% Of Muslims Are Terrorists

It is Glenn Beck. So let's not take it too seriously. But an idiot in America often has a following of even a lower-common denominator. And Beck is no exception.

His maniac and paranoid rantings during a time of great national uncertainty, economic dislocation and national fears have struck a passionate cord with millions of America.

So Beck's fanatical statements matter only because, and only because, many people are prone to believe such nonsense. This gems include: the PeaceCorps is akin to the Hitler Youth, the FDA is a vile creation of progressive Theodore Roosevelt, and Obama has a "deep-seated hatred of white people [and] white culture".

Now Beck, who used to almost daily rant against Muslims before he became obsessive with the Marxists in our government, made another stupid comment on his radio show:

"What is the number of Islamic terrorists? 1 percent? I think it's closer to ten percent but the rest of the PC world will tell you, 'oh no, it's miniscule.' Well, OK, let's take you at your one percent. Look at the havoc one percent of Muslims causing in the rest of the world. You don't think one percent, half a percent of people here in the United States of radicals, of people who want to violently overthrow the government of the United States, is a problem?"

Again. Notice how Beck's statement about Muslims is a secondary point next to his concern about domestic "radicals". As a Muslim I find this relief. I am glad Beck has found a new hobby and no longer is sweating day and night about the "Moossslums". He's moved on to other enemies.

But what about his statement? This isn't the first time Beck has made this comment:

As the Huffington Post's Sebastian Howard pointed out on Twitter, Beck's figure of ten percent is hardly new. In fact, Beck used the same statistic in his 2003 book, "The Real America." In it, Beck says that he has concluded, after "reading and prayer," that, while ninety percent of Islam is peaceful, "ten percent wants to see us dead." The remaining ten percent, he writes, is "composed of extreme radicals who have taken Islam through a time tunnel and twisted it into something ugly and barbaric."

This is absurd on its face. That means that there are 157million Muslim terrorists. Fortunately and clearly that is false or otherwise we would be facing more terrorists attacks and having bigger problems. The number of terrorists is mere hundreds and their passionate sympathizers who are susceptible to terrorism are is the single-digit thousands.

That should be obvious without being sanguine about the threat from militant Islamist terrorists.

But logic and Beck do not meet EVER!.

Another take on this:

Let’s take Beck at his ten percent. That is 157 million alleged Islamic extremists, who in Beck’s view “want to blow stuff up,” but according to the FBI only 6% of terrorist attacks in the U.S. from 1980 to 2005 where from Islamic extremists.

However, right-winged hate groups and “anti-immigrant vigilante groups” have risen 80% in America in the past year. Militias and “patriot” groups that are openly distrustful of our federal government and want to overturn it have risen 244%.

Just recently Glenn Beck himself, through use of hateful rhetoric, drove a man, Byron Williams, into attempting a mass-murder of leaders of the Tides Foundation and the ACLU, as Williams later admitted in his prison cell.

Even better, in 2006 Beck threatened the Islamic world with a flagrant symbol of concentration camps: “In 10 years, Muslims and Arabs will be looking through a razor fence at the West.”

He then spoke words that don’t at all make me nervous about his popularity with conservative America:

You want the profiling to stop? Then, here’s an idea. Stop murdering innocent people. Stop excusing the people who do. You do that for a while, and I guarantee you won’t have any more problems at the airports. Stop blowing stuff up and the world just might be your oyster. Otherwise, it’s going to be like that movie, The Siege. You remember that movie?

If you, like most Muslims, don’t remember that movie, here’s the basic gist: Bruce Willis turns Yankee Stadium into an Islamic prison camp.

Even if that doesn’t at all encompass the entire plot of the movie this is clearly the only thing Beck is referring too. He then brought up the razor wire again.

The real statistics show that out of the 1.3 billion Muslims in the world less than 1% are actually extremists and only 15% of Muslims are Arab meaning, 100% of what Glenn Beck says is extremely stupid.
