Give them exemplary punishment
It is a barbaric act that should be dealt with sternly. No amount of leniency should be shown to the perpetrators of such crime as the one witnessed in a village in Birbhum district of West Bengal in which a tribal teenage girl was molested and paraded naked in and around the village.

The West Bengal State Human Rights Commission has stepped in and has taken the matter in their hands as the police, even after almost three months of the savage incident, have so far failed to nab all the culprits and have been able to arrest only six of the 12 accused.
It was a shocking incident of molestation in the recent past, in which the 14-year-old girl was stripped, beaten up and forcefully paraded naked in three villages of Bengal's Birbhum district. And more shocking was the fact that the police turned a blind eye to the entire incident.
The dastardly incident happened because the villagers suspected the girl of having an affair with a boy outside her tribe. Some of the villagers found the girl talking to a boy and attacked her. They beat her up, and forced her to strip and made to do rounds of the villages.
The police inaction is mainly due to the involvement of 'big fishes' in the incident including the panchayat pradhan’s son-in-law.
The incident itself was not the end of the tale for the girl as fearing a backlash, her family refused to take her back. They relented only after the administration promised them a security cover.
Now, the State Women’s Right’s Commission has decided to send a team to investigate the incident and the State Human Rights Commission has asked for a report.
Both these organisations should ensure that the guilty persons, howsoever powerful they might be, punished for the inhuman act. And the punishment should be exemplary so that it should act as a deterrent to others in the country, especially in the north and north eastern part of the country.
