Giffords: The Woman Who Took the Bullet for Us
Everything has been said about Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords except that she took a bullet for us all.

She did it in such a unique way. She took the bullet while doing the work of democracy. Despite the sick wish of her attacker, Mrs. Giffords did not die as a result. She stayed in the fight.
That is very significant because had she died, the memorial would have taken place and we would have returned to business as usual.
But she hung in there. And as long as she is fighting for her life, many of us will be biting our tongue.
Already, people like Sarah Palin who have no problem putting others in the crosshairs became uncomfortable when the media placed her under the crosshairs.
As the governor of Alaska, Sarah Palin removed books from the library that contained words she considered harmful. But now, she wants us to believe that her words could not possibly be harmful.
This night, when President Obama speaks, he should remind Americans that Giffords took a bullet for us all.
