According to records maintained by the US government, George Bush Jr and Laura Bush have been very gifted as the president and first lady of the nation! In fact, that's part of their lifestyle.
Bush received a marble table top with inlay work from the Indian prime minister Man Mohan Singh when he visited the US in 2004. The table top was worth USD550.
Pakistan president Pervez Musharraf was more lavish with his gifts. He gifted Bush an ornately inlaid table, an antique muzzle loader, a traditional Pakistani coat and a hat, the same year. Musharraf gifted a silver bowl to Laura Bush while his wife Sheba gifted some jewellery to the first lady. The total worth of their gifts was estimated at USD2,300.
Jordanian king Abdullah II presented weapons worth USD 22,000 to the US president when he visited the US in 2004.
Hamid Karzai, the Afghanistan president, carried a 8,000 dollar rug for Bush and gifts worth USD1,100 for the first lady. The first lady of Afghanistan, Zeenat Karzai gave Laura an embroidered Afghan dress and silk shawl.
The Sultan of Brunei presented silver, crystal and leather items worth USD2,400 to president Bush in 2005.
The Russian president Vladimir Putin gifted collectors’ items worth USD900 the same year.
The Andhra Pradesh chief minister Rajashekhar Reddy offered Bush gift totaling to USD13,350 in 2006.
In 2007, Saudi Arabian king Abdullah Bin Abdul Aziz Al Saud offered artwork valued at USD 10,000 and jewellery worth USD85,000.
Gifts worth USD11,350 were brought in by the French president Nicholas Sarkozy the same year.
