Gadhafi’s Complicated Quagmire
Libyan leader, Col. Gadhafi, is trapped in a complicated quagmire. It appears that the only solution is for him to negotiate a deal that will allow him to leave Libya -now, if not yesterday.

Here is the quagmire: If Gadhafi wins, the rebels are finished. And because of that, the rebels will fight until death. But for Gadhafi to win, he will have to kill a large number of the rebels. Killing a large number of the rebels will mean that Gadhafi is massacring his own people. This will finally bring the international community into the conflict. And when they arrive, Gadhafi faces the same fate that befell Saddam.
If the rebels win, Gadhafi is finished. .
So from a pragmatic person’s perspective, the best option available to Col. Gadhafi is to negotiate and exist.
But then again, Gadhafi is the least pragmatic person on earth.
