Gaddafi Pays Italian Models To Attend A Party That Is Actually An Islam Recruit Fete

So many of the world leaders today are just not playing with a full deck of cards. Libya's Moammar Gaddafi ranks there amongst the top five biggest weirdo leaders of the world, along with Venezuela's Hugo Chavez, North Korea's Kim Jong-Il, and Iran's Mahmoud Ahmadinejad. Although Gaddafi is in good company, he doesn't seem as dangerous as the other three mentioned buffoons. But a buffoon he definitely is.

Gaddafi, who is known to cavort with a bevy of armed, female body guards and considers himself the "emancipator of women" also apparently has an affinity for Italian hot babes and has, on several occasions, tried to convert them, en masse, to Islam. Not only that, he actually tries to bribe them into converting. Well, not exactly, but he does pay them to attend gatherings where he gives them lessons on Islam, a Qu'ran to take home along with exhortations to convert.

Italy and Libya have always had a decent relationship, in spite of the fact that for 30 some odd years (ending in 1943) Italy 'occupied' Libya (during the colonial era). But relations have improved even further since Italy promised, several years ago in a 'friendship treaty', to compensate Libya $5 billion as restitution for said occupation. So, Gaddafi has taken advantage of this burgeoning love affair and paid Italy quite a few visits the past few years, including this most recent one. So, while in Rome to celebrate the anniversary of the treaty, he hired a modeling agency to pay for some few hundred or so young Italian lovelies to attend an Islam recruiting session on Sunday. No-one was willing to admit exactly how much they'd been paid to attend, other than they'd been given a small stipend.

The last time he had one of these 'convert to Islam' fetes, was November 2009 while attending a U.N. food summit where 200 women (from the same model agency) made a whopping $75.00 (€50) to join the festivities. The host was unbeknownst to them. For that amount they also got the lecture and a free Qu'ran. Not quite what they were expecting, I'm sure.

This time around, he gained 3 converts, according to one model/participant called Michela.

Michela, who asked that her last name not be used, told Associated Press Television News that three of the participants converted to Islam on the spot.

"It was a really beautiful meeting and went very well," she said. "He is very easygoing and he gave us a copy of the Quran. Three girls converted

themselves to Islam during the ceremony. It was a beautiful event."

Not everyone was so taken with the event.

Other participants, though, identifying themselves as Roman Catholics in this overwhelmingly Catholic country, said Gaddafi had urged others to convert and had dismissed Christianity as unimportant.

And as much as he considers himself a woman's best friend, and actually criticized in front of some 700 or so invited Italian females (businesswomen and politicians) last June, he also claimed the decision to let women drive was up to the women's male kin. Oh, yes, very progressive.

As for proselytizing- why is it okay for Muslims to actively recruit converts, and yet non-Muslims face death in Muslim majority countries for doing the same thing? Do I sense some major hypocrisy here?
