G8 summit: A veiled drama of surfeiting conflicts
Schizophrenia prevails over global warming issue that most expectedly will rock the G8 summit in Germany with US inducting new plans while keeping the vital German concerns at bay and putting the responsibility to curb the menace on developing countries, which will woefully afflict their development.

American attitude
US intransigence and step-brotherly attitude is open for criticism and discussions in the summit will invigorate with peculiar focus on global warming and on the emissions of hazardous gases. It seems, rightly so, to discuss violently on extending the first phase of Kyoto Protocol beyond 2012 that US defied in 2001 while putting emphasis to include the developing countries in its purview.
US blame game
US blame game and its tendency to shirk responsibility to mend its technology that could perhaps be an impediment to its economic growth is evident, and that is the only reason for US to defy preventive measures proposed by Germany and EU under UN.
The essence of the conflict lies not between developing and developed countries but between those who are looking for the result oriented solutions for the appalling problem and those who are knowingly delaying the resolutions with coveted political designs. China and US tops the latter category with their booming economies.
China's reluctance
China, the second highest emitter of greenhouse gases, has reiterated its stand to curb the emission of green house gases by setting goals. Unfortunately, it has rarely achieved those and this shows its reluctance to curb its emissions. However, the claims and false pretensions will not make the things better. The menace is not insurmountable, provided there is honesty of thought and will to tackle it; difficult however, it may be.
Will these eight great countries be able to comprehend that pollutants know no national boundaries and the nations who are not ready to modify their developmental aspirations will not escape the wrath of menace.
Some possible results of the menace
Some of the results of increasing pollutants in the atmosphere are Polar melting, devastating decimation of habitable environment and malformation of species - as some of them have even become extinct. Dying forests in Germany, barren lakes in North America, spoiled monuments in India and degrading farmlands in Brazil point out towards the rapidly expanding global wrath.
US new plan to curb the menace
US president has proposed a plan in which the 15 biggest emitters of pollutants (including itself) must set goals to reduce global warming by cutting down on their emissions by up to 20%. Bush sets 2020 as the deadline for achieving this objective. It is a welcome step, but again, a strong will is a pre-requisite for its successful completion. Moreover, the restrictions should not halt the scope of development for the developing countries because developed countries owe more to the climate change than their developing counterparts do.
We want growth and development, but at what cost? Finally, this growth is leading us to a self-deemed denouement where growth and development mean nothing. Nevertheless, after false pretensions and blame game it is the time to realize the gravity of the situation while shedding the patty gains aside. The developed countries should come to the board thus paving the way for the impeccable solution of the menace or else get ready to face the disastrous repercussions.
