French Nurse And Mom Admits To Killing 8 Of Her Babies
A 45-year-old French nursing assistant had two children and decided she didn't want anymore, so she systematically murdered eight (that we know of) babies that she gave birth to over a period of 20 years. According to the woman, Dominique Cottrez, who was arrested along with her husband (who was later released because they claim he knew nothing about the pregnancies), she had a traumatic experience with her first pregnancy and was too traumatized to go to a doctor to seek birth control. Of course, one doesn't need a doctor's prescription for certain contraceptives (condoms) which, though not 100% foolproof, might have at least made a difference. And what about putting the babies up for adoption? There are many people who are unable to bear children who, I'm sure, would have loved to have adopted one of them. Instead, she strangled the newborns and stuffed them in black garbage bags, and then buried them in the backyards of two of her houses. It's hard to believe that a husband would have had no clue that his wife was pregnant, but she was obese and it's been said she easily hid her condition.

Who knows what the real reasons are that this obviously sick or ignorant woman killed eight of her own offspring, but it would probably have gone undetected had it not been for the owners of their previous house. Digging in the garden, the new owners discovered the skeletal remains of two infants. The other six bodies were found in the new home, less than a mile away from the old abode. According to one news article, some of the bodies were buried under a heating tank in their garage.
Cottrez confessed everything to police officials, and was fully cognizant of her actions. If convicted of "voluntary homicide of a minor under the age of 15", she could spend the rest of her life in prison.
It's ironic that a woman in the medical field would be so apprehensive about dealing with doctors, but any woman who does not want any more children should opt for some form of sterilization. And if she was so frightened of having any medical procedures, then her husband should have dealt with the matter. Instead, this woman is responsible for eight dead babies, and could (and should) get life imprisonment.
