French Muslim Grave Defamed
The Notre Dame de Lorette cemetery in northern France - inaugurated in 1925 - is the nation's largest military cemetery. The cemetery is also home 576 Muslim graves in their own section and all facing Mecca - Islam's holiest site.

52 of the graves were vandalized by French neo-Nazis in an attack against the nation's several million Muslims - French Muslims are 10% of the population - that French president Nicolas Sarkozy was called "abject and revolting". The timing of the attack - Sunday night - was purposely scheduled for the day before the Islamic feats of Eid al-Adha.
The culprits of the attack have yet to be found. This is not first cemetery attack against Muslims. This past April, the same grave site was desecrated with the 148 stones targeted. A pig's head was placed on one tombstone and the French Muslim Justice Minister - Rachida Dati - was insulted. Two young Neo-Nazis are awaiting trial for that incident, they deny involvement.
In Winter 2007, swastikas were also painted on 52 Muslim graves; once again in the same cemetery (you would think that they would have hired security by now).
The Sunday attack is just days after illegal Jewish settlers in the occupied West Bank themselves attacked Muslim graves in Hebron with insults against the Prophet Muhammad (saw).
While Israeli officials were silently toward that attacks (or issued hollow words), Sarkozy sincerely denounced the French neo-Nazis would engaged in the attack as "the expression of a repugnant racism directed against the Muslim community of France."
